One Standard Size

Standard business cards are 3.5″x 2″ – but have you ever thought about why most cards are exactly that size and shape? You may have noticed that they generally all fit nicely into a wallet, purse or pocket. Credit cards, appointment cards and licenses are roughly the same size for just that reason.

Shape It Up

Typical business card dimensions are often the right choice for consistency and recognizability. But different shapes can help you stand out – and make an impression.

We talked above about the benefits of going with a standard business card size, so let’s dig into when you might go for square business cards or rounded corner business cards.

Square business cards are 2.5″x 2.5″ – the shape is great for putting a logo or product shot front-and-center, and they have a creative, interesting vibe. The cards stand out on an event table, tacked to a bulletin board, or in a potential customer’s hand.

Rounded corner business cards are 3.5″x 2 with quarter-inch rounded corners. They’ve got a memorable, modern look. So if someone’s looking at a handful of business cards, the corners make your cards extra eye-catching and stylish.

Feeling adventurous? You can combine rounded corners with our square shaped cards!

Design Guidelines

We’ve got thousands of templates you can pick from to create your card , thanks to our amazing designers. But you can upload your own design, too. It’s as simple as selecting a file on your computer, but here are some important guidelines to keep in mind.

Note: These measurements are for standard business cards. Square and rounded corner cards, have similar bleed and safe printing areas in relation to their actual size, but feel free to reach out to us if you want more detailed information.

Bleed Area: 3.61″x 2.11″

If you’ve got a background color or pattern, make sure it extends a bit beyond the actual size of the card. That way, you’ll never end up with white borders, even if the cards are cut slightly off center.

Actual Size: 3.5″x 2″

Just like the name says, this is where we cut your cards. We do our absolute best to make sure all your cards are centered and uniform, but be sure to read about the safe printing area.

Safe Printing Area: 3.36″x 1.86″

You probably have any important text or design elements within this area, which isn’t much smaller than the actual size of the card. To guarantee nothing gets cut off, keep everything inside this box.

Business Card Size in Pixels: 1050 x 600 pixels

If you or someone on your team is creating your card in a design program, the actual size of the card is 1050 x 600 pixels. However, the full bleed size is 1083 x 633 pixels, and the safe printing area is 1008 x 558 pixels.
